Diwali is considered to be one of the most sacred, colorful and loveliest festivals of the Hindus. Every year, it is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm throughout the country. It marks the happy returning of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after an exile of fourteen years. It is a festival of lights and festivities.

At What Time Diwali is celebrated?

It comes off about twenty days following Dussehra and marks the advent of winter. Diwali lends charms and delight tour lives. The festival is a collection of lamps. A few days prior Diwali houses, shops, buildings and temple arcs are thoroughly cleaned, white-washed and decorated with exclusive items.




On this auspicious day, people use to put on rich clothes and move all around thus enjoying a holiday mood. They also exchange greetings, gifts and sweets on this special day. Also, they enjoy a lot of activities, firing crackers, playing games, offering puja and much more.

Diwali Recipes from Maharashtra and West Bengal

In Maharashtra, people are well known to hold a great variety of sweets in the form of ravaladdoo, besanladdoo and gujiya. Besanladdoo is made up by using powdered sugar, gram flous and ghee. Ravaladdoo takes into usage semolina, ghee and sugar. They are yummy and last for the entire Diwali period.

They make amazing Diwali delicacies in the structure of anjeer cutlet, mawamishrimghevar and many more. Delicious anjeer cutlet of Jaipur, which is very much famous is a cashew sweet in a cylindrical shape. A must try to masala bhindi as well!

Taste some Bhojpuri Recipes

The Bhojpuri state, Bihar is also well known for making amazing Diwali recipes like khaja. It is dough layered and duly soaked in sugar syrup. The state is also famous for preparing spicy items like pane tikka, mushroom Manchurian, shahitukda and many more. Also, people prefer kaju barfi as even after preparing it with the help of cashew nuts, it holds fewer amounts of calories.

Traditional Values – Still in India

Food items and sweet items hold a vital position in Diwali celebration. A festive season without sweets and spicy items like namak pare and French fries etc. is incomplete! Diwali is a festival when Goddess Lakshmi gives blessings of prosperity. The traditional values are still followed in India.
