Moong Dal Diye Lau Ghanta (Bottle Gourd complemented with roasted Moong Dal)
2017-04-11It is almost similar to La ghanto (Bottle Gourd) but addition of roasted moong dal will make this little bit tastier. Try this recipe at home.
Ingredients
- ¼ Cup of yellow moong dal
- 4-5 cups of grated Lau (Bottle Gourd)
- ½ tsp of cumin
- 2 green elaichi (cardamom)
- 1 tej patta
- 2 dry red chilli
- 4 cloves
- a slim 2” cinnamon stick
- ½ tsp of grated ginger
- ½ tsp of turmeric powder
- 2 green chillies chopped
- 2 tsp of roasted coriander, cumin and garam masala powder
- ½ small tomato chopped (optional)
- salt to taste
- 2 Tbsp of oil to cook
- ½ tsp ghee
Method
Step 1
1. Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, cardamom, cinnamon, tej patta, clove and red chillies. When the whole spices starts popping, add grated ginger into it. 2. Now, add the yellow moong dal and fry it until light brown in colour. If you want to add tomato, you can add it now and sauté everything well. However, I did not use tomato on my recipe. 3. Pour the grated bottle gourd into the pan. Add turmeric powder, salt and green chillies and mix everything well. 4. Now, cover it and let the bottle gourd cook. It will release some water. 5. When the bottle gourd will cook properly, at the same time the dal will also cooked very well. Now, check and adjust salt. Now, add ½ tsp Sugar and ½ tsp of ghee and mix everything well.
