  • 1 cup Arahar dal
  • Onion garlic paste
  • Dry red chili
  • Curry leaves
  • Pinch of asafoetida
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • Tamrind (EMLI) Pulp
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • Cumin seeds
  • Mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking oil to fry


Step 1

Wash and Soak dal for ½ hour then driain water and add ½ tsp turmeric powder cook dal in pressure cooker for 2 whistle.

Step 2

Hetup oil in a pan or kadai add mustard seed cumin seeds and crackle them now, add Pinch of asafoetida , curry leaves dried red chilies mixed it. Add onion garlic paste mixed it till the raw aroma of garlic disappears. Add coriander powder, red chili powder mixed well and add chopped tomato cook it till tomato mash up

Step 3

Now add cooked dal in it add some water to maintain consistency of dal ,add imli pulp, Salt and sugar mix it well and cook it for 10 min and make it boil.

Step 4

And the yummy spicy Dal bati dal is ready to serve, garnish it with fresh chopped coriander leaves.
