Boondi

Basant Panchami is famous festival when we all worship Goddess Saraswati – goddess of learning, intellect and wisdom. During spring or in the Hindu month of Magh, the Vasant Panchami festival has been celebrated. Yellow colour is everywhere dominating on that day not only in clothes; even some of the food which is offering to Goddess Saraswati is yellow in colour. The festival has been celebrated part by part all over India and different part of India used to cook different food on that day.

Suji ka Halwa

 

Sooji Ka Halwa: In Bengal, people used to cook Suji halwa on this auspicious day. This sweet dessert has been served to Maa Sarswati with Puri/ Luchi as a Bhog.

 

 

Malpua

 

 

Malpua: Bengal and also Northern part of India made this sweet dish on that day. This is a deep fried pancake type which is mainly served with dry fruits and rabri.

 

 

Payesh or Kheer

 

 

Kheer/Payesh: Rice or Gobindo bhog rice coked in thickened sweet milk with lots of dry fruits. This is absolutely delicious.

 

 

Moong Dal Ladoo

 

 

Besan Ke Laddu/Moong Dal laddu: A moulded sweet made with moong dal or besan(roasted gram flour) and sugar powder.

 

 

Boondi

 

Boondi: This is also small dumplings sweet made from gram flour, fried and dipped into sugar syrup. Some people also garnish this with dry fruits or if you are not using this in any festival, then you can also serve this with chocolate chips.
