Besan ki Papadi is a special snacks recipe prepared to celebrate the special Hindu festival like Holi or Diwali. Learn how to make Besan ki Papdi through The Masala Route.


  • 250gm besan / Gram flour
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsb corom seeds
  • 1tsb cumin seeds
  • ¼ asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry and make dough
  • black paper powder(optional)


Step 1

Take besan in a bowl and add 3 tsb oil , add red chili powder,cumin seeds, corom seeds, asafetida and salt and mix it well , now add water gradually and make a tight and neat dough. Keep them aside for 15 min cover with muslin cloth.

Step 2

Now divide the dough in small pieces of 1 inch small balls, dust some wheat flour on the board and make papdi of 2-3 inch diameter with the help of roller. Do the same for all and keep them it on a muslin cloth or a paper.

Step 3

Now heatup 250ml (as per requirement) oil in a kadai to deep fry papdi and deep fry papdo on medium flame till it turns golden brown . Remove the excess oil and put it on a kichen towel . Now the crispy,yummy and tasty besan papdi is ready to serve.

Step 4

Keep them cool for ½ and hour then put it in air tight jar, You can use it for a month.
